Just because Kidd Rock's mash-up (which isn't) is buring up the charts with "All Summer Long" cobbling pieces of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Warren Zevon, doesn't mean his was first.
Today I present TWO mashups of this idea, though they go a bit further with the idea.
First, check out this awesome mash-up by DJ Audiodile called "More Werewolves of Alabama" featuring Boston vs Lynyrd Skynyrd vs Warren Zevon (and several others).
If you dig Audiodile's Mash, then be sure to grab the MP3 right here!
Second, is this gem by the Woozilla which adds in a little "Jimmy Olsen's Blues."
This little gem's MP3 is tucked away on the HyperTwins' wiki - grab it here!
And for comparison, here is the Kidd Rock song, which is not available as a single, you have to buy his CD to get it.
Stumbled on the video for Part Ben's "Pump Up The Doorbell" and thought I'd post the audio to go with it. Great mash-up, very simple, but oh so catchy! Erik B's "Paid In Full" vs "Doorbell" by the White Stripes.
Found this whilst scrolling through DJ Lobsterdust's blog - a video mash-up of his Unk vs. Avril Lavigne ft. Toni Basil - "Walkin’ Out Yo Girlfriend." Plus, I was tired of seeing my big mouth on the top of this blog.
I meant to post these before Christmas, but got too busy (the were uploaded to my library, but never blogged).
So here now, are a few mash-ups and fun songs I hope you enjoy.
The last 2 are mixes I made. Not mashups really, just a bit of cross-fading 2 songs into each other. The one I like best, "Millennium Prayer (D2 mix)" no one but me likes, so I never get to listen to it in the car! (must be the bagpipes I added)
But I wanted to hear it this year, and I am sharing it with everyone as well.
Thanks to the Pop bytes blog and DJ Paul V, here is another remix of "Linus & Lucy." Paul V says "this extremely funky fresh update of Vince Guaraldi's classic piano riffing, bursting with just the right amount of sprinkles 'n beats by Brooklyn's Pocketknife."
Check this out! Vox has a widget-slash-tool that will embed a music player that pulls in Songs from throughout the Vox community. The one below was created with the tag "mash-up" (of course).
But you can use any tag, user, or Vox Group to grab songs. Or, leave it all blank, and get a little of EVERYTHING! You can also set it to shuffle. How did I miss this?
And, you can embed the code on ANY website, not just Vox. Visit the Vox DJ right here!
It is far from perfect (I'd like multiple tags, a longer scrolling song list, a way to add it to Yahoo Widgets, please) but it is a great way to explore "musically" what is happening on Vox.
How did I not know about this?
From the DJ: "Following on the heels of 2006's Santastic II: Clausome and 2005's Santastic: Holiday Boots For Your Stockings, here we have Santastic III in 3-D! It's a fresh-baked new collection of Holiday mash-ups, alternate treatments and bootleg remixes that is sure to stuff your stockings, deck your halls and make your December nights a little less silent.
In 2007, we're bringing the Christmas tunes from three dimensions: past, present, and future, and pumping 'em up with the juicy breaks and sugarplum samples to make your spirits bright. "

Another great one from DJ John. ACDC vs Les Rythmes Digitales - and I think I hear Planet Rock, Pink and M.A.R.R.S. in there too!
Today is Vox's first anniversary since the official launch. What's the best experience you've had on Vox in the past year?
Wellll, I think I'd have to rank the invite Kymberlie sent me to join the Vox Beta (called "Not Comet" back then). My first post was on March 10th, 2006. A bit before the official launch. My first post was a little less enthusiastic than I am now:
I believe this makes my fourth blog. No, fifth? ...OK, hey, seven is a lucky number. I can go with that.
Once I warmed to the idea that Vox was trying to be more than just another hosted blog site, I had a different take:
... blogging hasn't been fun for me for a long, long time. Maybe because the Blog world exploded. Maybe because folks I liked to read stopped blogging. ...Whatever the case, having had a blog for 6+ years you see a lot of change.
I think this is what is so interesting to me about (Vox). For the first time in I don't know how long, I am starting to have fun again. Not as much fun (yet) as "back in tha day" but I can sense it happening.
Right now, it makes me think of this community as the "Little Rascals" ... it is like being a member of "Our Gang" again. I am probably not communicating this very well. I am not sure if this even makes sense to anyone but me.
But for now, I am glad to be in the Clubhouse again. Right Spanky?
Well, since then, I've transformed my "other blog" and made Vox my home.
... my original blog has become my "Other Blog." ... it isn't really any fun there. Not anymore.
No, the fun is to be had here at Vox. Here there is community, and connection.
At my "Other Blog" all that faded away. Maybe I faded away. But I really dig it here at Vox, and I will be here for the long haul.
So, to Vox I say thank you for being born, and for bringing the "joy" back to blogging.
Happy Birthday, erm, Anniversary, uh, Voxiversary!
Without you, TheGoodLife with be just so-so!
And with that spirit, I post a totally unrelated Mash-up!
This fun mix is via DJ John. It says it is a "test" so I am not sure if he ever finished it, but I really like what he's done. Again, nothing to do with the Voxiversary, but fun nonetheless!
