Thanks to Patti, first for making me smile with her post. And also because I now know why my 2007 post of "Do-Re-Mi" remix is getting so many comments and requests for the song. It is due to a "viral" video/commercial from Germany.
Here is her original post:
I am not sure where this is from, but clearly it was remixed by a radio station somewhere, and passed around and around to other FM DJs.
Regardless, once you hear THIS version, you won't want to listen to the original without the sound effects!
Although I've posted about this before, I didn't actually include a play-able version of it. So, to make things right, and to send a shout-out to my friend stuck in Bahrain (and who recently unpacked a thermometer - listen to the song, you'll get it) I present to you the "Glorified" remix of The Thermos Song - as performed by Steve Martin in "The Jerk."
This mix, and additional production, was created by Peter Greenstone, so be sure to visit his site and let him know you love his work.
I meant to post these before Christmas, but got too busy (the were uploaded to my library, but never blogged).
So here now, are a few mash-ups and fun songs I hope you enjoy.
The last 2 are mixes I made. Not mashups really, just a bit of cross-fading 2 songs into each other. The one I like best, "Millennium Prayer (D2 mix)" no one but me likes, so I never get to listen to it in the car! (must be the bagpipes I added)
But I wanted to hear it this year, and I am sharing it with everyone as well.
Here's a brash take on the classic "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" by David Seville and Alvin & the Chipmunks (you did know the chipmunks were David's voice sped up, right?).
You can grab it at Iheartcomics.com. There is also a very annoying remix of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" by the Jackson 5. I can't bring myself to post it - you are on your own.
Thanks to the Pop bytes blog and DJ Paul V, here is another remix of "Linus & Lucy." Paul V says "this extremely funky fresh update of Vince Guaraldi's classic piano riffing, bursting with just the right amount of sprinkles 'n beats by Brooklyn's Pocketknife."
From the DJ: "Following on the heels of 2006's Santastic II: Clausome and 2005's Santastic: Holiday Boots For Your Stockings, here we have Santastic III in 3-D! It's a fresh-baked new collection of Holiday mash-ups, alternate treatments and bootleg remixes that is sure to stuff your stockings, deck your halls and make your December nights a little less silent.
In 2007, we're bringing the Christmas tunes from three dimensions: past, present, and future, and pumping 'em up with the juicy breaks and sugarplum samples to make your spirits bright. "

DJ John put his wheels of steel to the Peanuts gang on this remix of the "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown" piano theme song. Just in time for the Holidays!
You can grab the MP3 and read more about this mix on DJ John's website.
Wow this YouTube vid takes me back to my college days. I did a lot of reel-to-reel remixing of 12" singles this way, cutting and splicing audio tape. But MAN, never like this!
This is insane! I'd like to see the Latin Rascals post some of their stuff. Amazing!
Just something to get you to smile and make it through Hump Day. Great remix, don't miss it!
